Workshop on LABORATORY ANIMAL MANAGEMENT AND HANDLING 10th to 12th January 2018 The Laboratory Animal Medicine (LAM) unit of TANUVAS was commissioned in 1973 with the objective of breeding, maintenance and supply of quality research animals. The unit is modernised with sophisticated instruments such as HVAC system, barrier housing and dual-corridor Class100000 clean room facility with dedicated quarantine area for maintaining the micro and macro environmental conditions for laboratory animals. This unit is now functioning under the Directorate of Centre for Animal Health Studies, TANUVAS and is committed to produce quality laboratory animals to cater the needs of researchers. LAM unit is also offering training programs throughout the year for various categories of personnel involved in laboratory animal management and research such as animal keepers, research scholars and scientists. These programs aim to address the shortage of expertise in managing and conducting animal studies. In this connection, LAM unit will be conducting a three day workshop on ‘Laboratory Animal Management and Handling’ from 10.01.2018 to 12.01.2018 at Laboratory Animal Medicine Unit (LAM), Madhavaram Milk Colony, TANUVAS, Chennai 600051. Postgraduate or doctoral students, research fellows in veterinary or biological sciences, researchers planning to conduct animal experiments, research employees of private organisations and postgraduates from any biological discipline are eligible to apply. The workshop will include lectures, visit to our animal facility and hands-on practical sessions. The maximum number of candidates per training batch will be restricted to ten (10). Candidates will have to make their own arrangements for accommodation and transport. Lunch, tea and snacks will be provided on the days of training.
